Victorian tradition
Glendronach is one the oldest Victorian distilleries in Speyside, the region in the North of Scotland in the Highlands famous for the exceptional quality of its Scotch whiskies.
The demands of tradition
Produced using a strict elaboration process, Glendronach 12 Year Old is made according to the purest Scottish traditions. After maturing for 12 years in old sherry casks, the single malt is transferred to American oak casks, in order to achieve a rounder finish.
In 2005, the original stills, dating from 1826, were replaced with identical stills, in order to preserve the original quality. The stills are heated over an open coal fire, in accordance with tradition. The fermentation tanks are made from Oregon pine.
During maturing, the casks are stored directly on the ground, one above the other, on three levels. This system results in a harmonious ageing process, thanks to excellent hygrometry and optimal air circulation.
A double matured Highlands malt, Glendronach has an intense amber colour, aromas of vanilla and sherry, notes of ginger, developing into gingerbread, grapes and candied oranges. |
